Maria Luisa is a dedicated educator with over 18 years of experience working with children of all ages. A proud mother of four daughters, including twins, and the primary caregiver for her mother, she brings compassion, responsibility, and dedication to all aspects of her life. Originally from Mexico, she began her teaching career in 2005 and has been part of La Plazita for more than eight years, serving both as a teacher and as Director of La Plazita II. She has studied Child Development and English at City College of San Francisco and Merritt College in Oakland, CA, and is completing her Associate of Arts degree.

Her educational philosophy is grounded in empathy, respect, acceptance, honesty, creativity, and collaboration. As Director, Maria Luisa is committed to creating an environment where every child feels loved, welcomed, respected, and valued; where teachers celebrate each achievement; and where curiosity and a love for learning are encouraged each day. She takes pride in fostering children’s social and emotional growth, helping them develop the confidence and skills needed for a successful future.

Outside of her professional role, Maria Luisa enjoys nature walks on the beach or in the mountains, reading, and watching documentaries. Passionate about learning from other cultures, she enjoys international films and collects handicrafts from the Middle East, Mexico, India, and Peru. She is drawn to bright, vibrant colors and has a deep appreciation for music of all genres, especially cumbia, pop, classic hits, and bachata.
