Director:
Claudia Valdez

Claudia was born in Mexico City and has been a resident of Oakland for 19 years. She is the proud mother of two daughters, one in high school and the other in middle school. Since her daughters began preschool, she has been actively involved in their education, volunteering at their schools for many years. During the pandemic, Claudia decided to further her education by studying at Chabot College, and in 2021 she joined La Plazita 3. In August 2024, she assumed the role of Director at Plazita Foothill.
Becoming a teacher has always been Claudia’s dream, and she truly enjoys engaging with children. She integrates music, dance, and song into her work and daily life, finding joy in witnessing and contributing to each student’s progress. She takes pride in sharing her culture while also learning from the diverse cultures of others. Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, Claudia values the importance of language skills as a bridge for connection and understanding. She is also a person who enjoys helping others, offering her support whenever it is needed. Passionate about technology, she continually develops her digital skills by exploring new platforms, devices, and software.
Committed to lifelong learning, Claudia actively pursues professional growth through courses, programs, and reading on child development. She believes that early childhood is the most formative stage of life and works to ensure every family feels welcomed and supported. Her goal is to create a warm, inclusive community where all students and their families feel valued a core mission of La Plazita Preschool.
